Die Au
A Munich Original

In what is probably the city’s smallest quarter – the Au, right on the banks of the Isar – we delight our guests every day with great passion. The impressive Gründerzeit building on Lilienstraße looks back on a long history. In its day, none other than one of Munich’s most famous and beloved figures was a regular here: Karl Valentin. Back then, the establishment still belonged to the Wagner Brewery.

Our host Florian Oberndorfer has run the tavern since 1993 – his passion for good food and service, as well as his love for the region, have made the Wirtshaus something truly special. Our menu features classics as well as modern interpretations of Bavarian dishes. And: we serve the biggest potato dumplings in town.

Our Region.
Our Responsibility.

For many years now – not just since yesterday – we have been striving to run our Wirtshaus in an ecological and sustainable way. We believe that every contribution to protecting the environment, however small, counts. We love Bavaria and want it to remain just as lovable in the future.
